Notre Dame Club Service Project

Thursday, December 29, 9:00 am

Volunteers begin to arrive, and the donuts and coffee are waiting! Bringing rakes, clippers, leaf blowers, and a variety of garden tools, nearly 60 ND alumni, friends, and family are ready for their morning service project!  Tomorrow they will be in their seats at the Gator Bowl cheering wildly for the Fightin’ Irish. But today they are putting faith into action at L’Arche Jacksonville.  By noon, they will have planted fresh flowers, raked and bagged a ton of leaves, and spread mulch.  And a storage shed will be useful once again.

Since 1989 the Notre Dame Club of Greater Jacksonville has supported the L’Arche Jacksonville community through volunteer activities and the Summer Service Learning Program. (See related post:  https://www.larchejacksonville.org/love-from-notre-dame/)  It’s widely known that Notre Dame alumni LOVE football and faithfully show up to post season events like the Gator Bowl! With alumni traveling to Jacksonville from around the country, the Notre Dame Club recognized a great service opportunity.

Volunteers cleaned up debris from two hurricanes in the fall of 2022 while providing TLC to other areas of the campus.  It was a pleasure to introduce L’Arche to alumni and family members from FL, AZ, PA, NY, IL, etc. who signed up to help with this project. Each participant was provided with information about the L’Arche mission and vision.

Thank you, Notre Dame Club of Greater Jacksonville, for your dedicated effort to restore our campus grounds.
GO IRISH!!
