Jacksonville, Florida, December 1, 2021 Press Release –
L’Arche Jacksonville is pleased to announce it is the recipient of an award of $6,800.00 from auto insurer GEICO. This generous gift will provide partial funding for securing a new passenger minivan for our core members to transport them to/from medical office appointments, day programs, and social outings.
Founded in 1985, L’Arche Jacksonville is a faith-filled residential community for adults with intellectual disabilities and the caring assistants who choose to live with them as family. The continuing success of this unique concept depends on a dedicated staff, active community volunteers and benefactors, and a close, mutually supportive relationship with 150 L’Arche communities around the world.

This $6,800 award from GEICO in November 2021 was designated to support the purchase of a 2016 Honda Odyssey van for Sunflower House. The residents had been without transportation since a September storm caused a large tree limb to fall, crushing their vehicle. Our deepest appreciation to longtime advocate and GEICO employee, Kelly Parks, for going to bat for L’Arche once again!
